First off I've technically never been on a Harley. Have 2000 Chief which is basically a streched 95 Softail with an Indian Party dress. That being said,I find myself waving my ass off! Are you the type that waits for the last minute to make sure you get waved back at?
Do you make your backrest wave for you? Are you too safety minded to take one hand off the grips to wave at all?
And do you feel you've been had by a goodlooking import of the Japanese kind? Yeah I'm at least 1/4 disturber, but know anyone that owns a bike that's not? By the way, I used to own a jeep CJ7, it's the same waving deal

I know this is an old thread but I just wanted to add my two cents. I wave for 2 reasons. First to acknowledge fellow riders and second to alert 4 wheelers that there is another bike on the road. I think its helps to point out to other vehicles that we are out there.

I wave or I point to the ground. Even when I'm in my car.
It's nice to acknowledge other riders of any make or model. Makes no difference to me. As long as you ride- that's all that counts.

I ride the back seat and I do the one hand pointed down towards the pavement to everyone..says safe journey brother rubber side down, we all deserve it. When I am driving my car they get a two finger lift off the steering wheel, that goes for pick up trucks also, customary and polite down South, there is something to learn from that up North.

What has happened to us, are we too proud because we ride Harley's. When loud pipes become legislative issues they will be for every make and model motorcycle, not just Harley's.

When a biker is down we all grieve. We dig in our pockets and contribute. We are brothers and sisters on the road, lets never forget this and be the first to show respect. When I ride two up I do the hand down salute he watches for hand signals and watches the cages.

I use to wave at every bike I passed. Now there are sooooooo many bikes on the road that I quit waving when I'm in city traffic. I concentrate on the cagers that think it's a race instead of a commute. On the open road, I wave at everyone on a bike. I also stop for every bike I see on the side of the road. I've been know to travel a few miles out of my way to get back to a stopped biker. I've even stopped to help a few who thought I was wierd for stopping.

You wave every chance you get!!! We are all in the same circle and it is an unwritten rule. If you don't wave there is something very weird about it!!! Sometimes it may get a little tiring say going on a run with 3000 other people but dont you feel great doing it!!!

I wave to everyone when it's safe. Anyone who rides deserves the acknowledgment.

Simple answer!!Come on folks! we are all in this together,with nearly every state in the union trying to legislate where, how, and what you can ride, we all need to band together and acknowledge each other no matter what we ride...We are all from the same clothe and don't need "clicks" and partisanship to block us from presenting a united front. Wave to all, for we are all the same; Bikers..

I usually wave to all. Alot of middle fingers to the aholes on the cell phones not paying attention.

When I road with my boyfriend from 3 yrs. back. I always waved when there was a chance. That is the other thing I love about riding, other bikers are usually very friendly with there waves.

I wave to everybody I see if its safe to do so. I always say I can get killed on my two wheels (or 3 if a trike) as you can, so you are a brother or sister in the wind to me. The question I have is about all the scooters that are taking up highway space. I guess I'll wave at them to as the statement still applies.I would hope anyone that rides or wishes they could would stop and help if needed (and again safe.)Its a mentality,an attitude that makes me wave. I feel part of a larger community on my bike.

Same here. I signal to all I pass. I've been riding for 42 years and there's still a sense of "There ya go! Have a good one" when I see oncoming bikes.

For me its a wish for every rider I pass that they may have a safe journey..Its a point rather than a wave...I point to the ground to wish them "keep the rubber side down" I also watch their hand signals to see if they're telling me to slow down, or if theres cops ahead etc. Every rider gets it...whether I'm leaned over or not. Its good kharma...
