About two weeks ago while riding to work,my clutch cable broke-just before entering the highway.I was able to get back to the house to get my truck.By the time I got on the highway, turns out there was a four car accident that took out all three lanes.Based on the time and how far the traffic was backed up,I figured that I definetly could have been involved in that accident. So I have to ask myself if this happened for a reason or was it coincidence. And if and what forces might have been involved.  more...

slipping the gear from one to another can be done w/wo a clutch if the motor and tranny are running the same speed. stopping or starting w/o the clutch, next to impossible. if you're gentle and moving you can keep going until you have to come to a complete stop. i had a 77 electroglide w/buckhorn handlebars and she ate clutch cables regularly. safe riding

So, how'd you get home with a severed clutch cable? That's the kind of thing I would be interested in.

Well when the cable broke-it seemed to pop at the grip-it was still in gear. The engine bogged down and off.So I had to start it in gear,so the whole bike was jerking till it started. Then I drove it home in what I think was third gear. Ive heard that you can shift a bike,or car for that matter, with out clutching..but why take a chance and do more damamge.

Well some will say coincidence, but I believe there are no coincidences and that everything happens for a reason. So yes a guardian angel could have made sure that you we're not there at the time... But, maybe you should be asking..why? ...you were   more...

Mmmmm. I don't believe in coincidence. Good ones or bad ones. I think someone was watching over you.

The smartest of men, throughout history have pondered that very same question. The most observant have noticed that so many things in this life seems to follow a pattern, usually undiscerned by the vast majority of us. A coincidence, possibly, but as you look into the sky around you, watch life unfold around you, how can you not appreciate that something is directing thinks. No, I don't believe it is Chaos Theory or any other thinly worded proposition put forward by our leading scientist/agnosti  more...

Things just happen. No reason they just happen.
Did you ever think that if you had been on that highway the other drivers would have also been in different circumstances and the accident never would of happened.
So its your fault those cars crashed.
Thanks for screwing up my commute.

Just one of those things. But we must not think ourselves more special than others. As one person said Many people who were "saved" by cars not starting, missing the tube, getting/not getting that extra cup of coffee, being stopped for a chat which prevented then from being in the Twin Towers on 9/11 perceived it or was decided by others that they were "divinely" saved. The only problem with that is what does it say about the 3000 others who were not divinely blessed. Does n  more...

I believe you were being watched over.
Something unexplained caused a diversion
to keep you out of harms way.
Who or what, I can not tell you.
It very well may have been a Guardian Angel.
Things such ss your situation happen for a reason.
That's how I see it.
I'm glad you got diverted.
